Susanna Thompson is an American actress who became popular for her role as the Borg Queen on the television series ‘Star Trek: Voyager’. She became a household name for portraying the character Karen Sammler in the television series ‘Once and Again’, which she continued for three years. Her role as Dr. Lenara Kahn in ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ episode ‘Rejoined’ kindled controversy as she took part in one of television's first same-sex kisses. Starting her acting career with theater, she soon ventured into television and films as well and has acted in a number of projects on both the small and the big screen. She won a Dramatic Award for her role in the play ‘A Shayna Maidel’. She also earned a nomination for Best Actress by the San Diego Critics Circle for her role in the film ‘Agnes of God’.

Career
Beginning her career with theater, Susanna Thompson appeared on numerous theater productions. In 1985, she appeared in the mystery drama film ‘Agnes of God’, directed by Norman Jewison, and received a Best Actress nomination from the San Diego Critics Circle. In 1987, she received a Dramatic Award for her role as Luisa in the play ‘A Shayna Maidel’, which is about the horrors of the Holocaust, and a deep study of sisterhood, family, and faith.
In 1992, she appeared as a receptionist in the TV movie ‘A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story’, and as Christine in the TV movie ‘Calendar Girl, Cop, Killer? The Bambi Bembenek Story.’ She starred in ‘Ambush in Waco: In the Line of Duty’, and ‘Slaughter of the Innocents’ in 1993. In television, she was featured in two episodes of ‘Civil Wars’, two episodes of ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’, ‘Bodies of Evidence, and ‘The X-Files’ in the early 1990s.
From 2006 to 2015, she starred in the recurring role of Lt. Col. Hollis Mann in eight episodes of ‘NCIS’, an action police procedural fictional series about a team of special agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service which investigates crimes involving the US Navy and Marine Corps.
In 2006, she was also featured as Judith Webster in ‘The Book of Daniel’, a drama series that was aired on NBC; as Janice Cooper in ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’; and as Cynthia Neuwirth in ‘Without a Trace’, another police procedural television drama series that follows the cases of a missing persons unit of the FBI in New York City. In 2007, she performed in two films, ‘The Gathering’ as Elaine Tanner, and ‘American Pastime’ as Shirley Burrell.
In 2012, she was cast as Jamie in the film ‘Unbanded.’ In the same year, she was featured as Moira Queen in the superhero television series ‘Arrow’ developed by writer/producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, and based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, a costumed crime-fighter. Susanna appeared in 41 episodes of the series from 2012 to 2017.
She was cast as Carolyn Preston in ‘Timeless’, a science fiction drama series that premiered on NBC on October 3, 2016. Susanna appeared in 16 episodes of the series, which follows the adventures of history professor Lucy Preston, scientist Rufus Carlin and soldier Wyatt Logan as they try to stop Garcia Flynn from changing the course of American history through time travel.
