In 2007, Tessa took up a school project, for which she had to come up with a vlog. She was no stranger when it came to making a vlog as she had already created a YouTube channel. Since she had already posted a few vlogs on her channel, Tessa had no problems in acing her project.
On June 6, 2008, she graduated high school as one of the members of the ‘National Honor Society.’ By now, she had already started her career as a fashion model and had visited places like Thailand and Hong Kong as part of her modeling projects. Soon after her graduation, Tessa shifted to Seoul, Korea, where she learnt the nuances of making a variety of videos, including music videos, stories, and skits. She then moved to New York City in 2009. Her popularity as a YouTuber had skyrocketed by then. In the same year, she won $100,000 in a competition for the most commented video on YouTuber.
In 2010, she joined hands with ‘Maker Studios’ to come up with two videos, namely ‘Star Trek Girl’ and ‘Wizard Love – feat. Heyhihello.’ Both the videos went viral on the internet, stamping Violet’s authority as a successful YouTuber and singer. With more than a million subscribers, her channel is one of the 500 most-subscribed YouTube channels.

Music Career
Tessa had begun her musical career way back in 2008 by using her YouTube channel as a platform. She released her debut extended play ‘Days of’ in 2012. She gained prominence as a musician in 2014, when she released her hit album ‘Maybe Trapped Mostly Troubled.’ The album, which was produced by Seth Earnest, explored themes, such as love, anxiety, co-dependency, and self-worth.
After the success of ‘Maybe Trapped Mostly Troubled,’ Tessa went on a number of tours, including ‘The Living Room Tour,’ which featured Rusty Clanton. The tour had them visiting nine locations to perform live in the living rooms of random fans. While the first 30 minutes of the show had Rusty Clanton playing his original music, the next 30 minutes had Tessa playing her music.
In July 2015, Tessa and Rusty toured the western half of the States in what was dubbed as ‘Return of the Living Room Tour.’ In 2016, she featured in ‘The TransAtlantic Tour,’ alongside artists like Jon Cozart, Dodie Clark, and Rusty Clanton. She also accompanied fellow YouTuber and singer Bry O'Reilly for a tour in the United Kingdom.

At the very beginning of her career as a YouTuber, Tessa Violet had collaborated with local bands and fellow YouTubers. On January 11, 2012, she went on a 17-city tour called ‘The Dial Up Tour,’ covering places in the U.S.A and Canada. She was accompanied by fellow YouTubers, namely Shawna Howson, Olan Rogers, Alex Carpenter, Mitchell Davis, Jason Munday, and Kyle Sibert.
Before collaborating with Rusty Clanton for their tours, Tessa had already appeared in Rusty’s YouTube videos and vlogs. In fact, she had teamed up with Rusty Clanton in December 2014, to form a band called ‘People You Know.’ The duo released an album titled ‘You, Me and Christmas.’ The album had four cover songs and an original song titled, ‘You and Christmas.’
