Thom Bierdz is an American actor who is best recognized for appearing as Phillip Chancellor III in the CBS daytime soap opera ‘The Young and the Restless.’ He appeared regularly on the show from 1986 to 1989, and garnered a huge fan base through his brilliant performance. He is of Polish and Italian ancestry. Openly gay, the actor has suffered a number of tragedies but has persevered bravely through each of them. Years ago, his paranoid schizophrenic brother murdered their mother with a baseball bat. A few years hence, another brother, in the throes of deep depression, committed suicide. Although deeply shaken by these family tragedies, Bierdz has chosen to be courageous and has shared the accounts of his life’s darkest times in his memoir “Forgiving Troy.” Currently, he devotes most of his time to painting and to non-profit organizations. He is closely associated with “Out for Work,” an organization which works for the upliftment of LGBT students in the areas of personal development and education. As a painter, he has earned the title of the Best Emerging Artist of Los Angeles by ‘Out Magazine.’
