Tommy Wiseau is a Polish-American actor, director, filmmaker, and writer. He is best known for writing, producing, directing, and starring in the cult film ‘The Room’ that won the Audience Award at New York International Film Festival in 2004. He is also known for creating the documentary ‘Homeless in America’ as well as the sitcom ‘The Neighbors’. Wiseau is a controversial artist who has gained both appreciation as well as criticism for his projects. However, he doesn’t let the criticism dampen his spirit and continues to create unconventional films and TV shows. Known for his signature curly black hair and eccentric personality, Wiseau is in a serious mood most of the time, irrespective of whether he is filming or posing in front of the media for pictures. The actor is also always seen wearing a pair of sunglasses, even in daylight. Wiseau, who is a highly secretive person, hasn’t disclosed anything regarding his personal life to the media. In 2017, he told ‘Entertainment Weekly’ that he believed that a person’s private life should be private and that he has all the rights to maintain his privacy from the prying eyes of the media!

Career
Tommy Wiseau began trying his luck in Hollywood in the late 1980s. In 1994, he enrolled in Vincent Chase's acting program and also attended film classes at the Los Angeles Community College. During this time, he directed the film ‘Robbery Doesn't Pay’. He eventually got his Screen Actors Guild card (SAG) by producing, writing, directing and appearing in a commercial for a corporation he owns.
In 2003, his flick ‘The Room’ was released. Based on an unpublished novel written by Wiseau himself, this movie garnered much attention from the public. Initially lambasted by the critics, it went on to become a cult classic over the years. In 2010–11, the movie was screened in many countries, including the United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, India and Australia.
In 2004, the actor produced and starred in the short documentary ‘Homeless in America’. Four years later, he appeared in the pilot episode of ‘The Neighbors’ that he also produced. He next guest starred in the show ‘Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job’. In 2010, Wiseau acted in the parody horror flick ‘The House That Drips Blood on Alex’. The same year, he got featured in the comedy series ‘La La Land’. He next appeared in a YouTube web series called ‘Tommy Explains it All’ in which his views on various topics were presented to the audience. In 2018, he was cast in the movie ‘Best F(r)iends’.
