Trevor Noah Biography

Trevor Noah initially had a minor role in an episode of a South African TV program called ‘Isidingo.’ He then started hosting his own radio show titled ‘Noah's Ark’ on YFM. He then dropped the show to focus on comedy, performing with South African comedians like Kagiso Lediga, David Kau, Riaad Moosa, Marc Lottering and Nik Rabinowitz as well as international comedians like Carl Barron, Paul Rodriguez and Dan Ilic.

Soon after, Noah went on to host the educational TV program ‘Run The Adventure’ on SABC 2. In 2007, he served as the host of ‘The Real Goboza’, a gossip-themed talk show on SABC 1. The following year, he co-hosted ‘The Amazing Date’ alongside Pabi Moloi. The host cum comedian also appeared on the 4th season of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ that year. He next starred in the comedy show ‘Trevor Noah: The Racist’. In 2012, he appeared in the movie ‘Mad Buddies’. Two years later, he became a recurring contributor on the late-night talk and news satire program ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’. On March 30, 2015, he succeeded Stewart as the host of the show. Then in 2017, Noah developed the talk show ‘The Opposition with Jordan Klepper’ that is running till date.

Noah has performed all over his native South Africa as a comedian in events and programs like ‘The Blacks Only Comedy Show,’ the ‘Vodacom Campus Comedy Tour,’ the ‘Heavyweight Comedy Jam,’ the ‘Cape Town International Comedy Festival,’ ‘Bafunny Bafunny’ and the ‘Jozi Comedy Festival.’ His stand-up comedy specials include ‘Crazy Normal,’ ‘The Daywalker,’ ‘That's Racist’ and ‘It's My Culture.’

Trevor Noah was born on February 20, 1984, in Johannesburg, South Africa, to Robert and Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah. His father is white while his mother is black. He has two stepbrothers named Andrew and Isaac from his mother’s later marriage to Ngisaveni Abel Shingange. His stepfather used to physically abuse both Noah and his mother. His mother later divorced her abusive husband.

Talking about his love life, Noah dated American singer and model Jordyn Taylor. In 2020, he started dating television actress Minka Kelly. In May 2022, the couple parted ways.
