Verne Troyer was an American comedian, actor, and stunt performer. He was best known for playing the role of “Mini-Me”, Dr. Evil's smaller and pure evil protégé in the ‘Austin Powers’ movie series as well as for appearing in ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone’. Recognized as one of the shortest men in the world, Troyer was notable for having been 2 ft 8 in tall as a result of suffering from cartilage–hair hypoplasia. Born to Reuben, a repair technician, and Susan, a factory worker, he grew up with his two siblings in a middle-class home. He was raised by his parents just like a normal child and was never treated any different from his average-sized siblings. Troyer attended Centreville High School. Following graduation, he packed his bags for Arlington, Texas and went on to make his debut as a stunt double in the 1994 flick ‘Baby's Day Out’. He then went on to appear in many other popular movies. Coming to his personal life, the actor had been romantically involved with numerous women in the show business. In 2018, he died due to alcohol poisoning at the age of 49.

Career

Verne Troyer's acting career began in 1994, when he served as a stunt double for "Baby Bink", an infant character, in John Hughes' flick ‘Baby's Day Out’. The following year, he was cast in the live action TV series 'Masked Rider'. During the late 1990s, He got further work as a double in several films including ‘Jingle All the Way’, ‘Dunston Checks In’, ‘Pinocchio's Revenge’, ‘Men in Black’, ‘Mighty Joe’ and ‘My Giant’.

Then in 1999, Troyer was approached by Jay Roach who eventually cast him as “Mini-Me” in his movie ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’. The same year, he began appearing in the sitcom ‘Shasta McNasty’. After this, the actor was cast as goblin Griphook in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone’. In 2002, he reprised his role as “Mini-Me” in ‘Austin Powers in Goldmember’. The following year, he got featured in two episodes of ‘Boston Public’.

Troyer next appeared as a contestant in the reality TV series ‘The Surreal Life’ in 2005. Two years later, he appeared in the reality show ‘Welcome to Sweden’. Then in 2008, he collaborated with Mike Myers for the movie ‘The Love Guru’. That year, the American artiste also began appearing in ‘Celebrity Juice’. He played Percy in the fantasy flick ‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ in 2009. The same year, he participated in ‘British Celebrity Big Brother’ and ‘The Paul O'Grady Show’. Troyer played Archimedes in ‘Keith Lemon: The Film’ in 2012. In 2013, he got featured in the TV shows ‘Lemon La Vida Loca’ and ‘Legit’. After this, he appeared in the programs ‘Through the Keyhole’, ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’ and ‘Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park: USA’.

Verne Jay Troyer was born on January 1, 1969 in Sturgis, Michigan, the USA to Susan and Reuben Troyer. His father worked as a repair technician while his mother was a factory worker. Troyer had two siblings, Deborah and Davon. He received his education from Centreville High School.

Coming to his love life, the actor married model Genevieve Gallen in 2004. However, their marriage was annulled the following day. In June 2008, a sex video of Troyer and his ex-live-in girlfriend, Ranae Shrider, was leaked. The American actor’s last romantic relationship was with actress Brittney Powell.

Death

On April 21, 2018, Troyer was found dead. The cause of his death was determined to be alcohol poisoning. He was 49 at that time.
