Xochitl Gomez Biography

Xochitl Gomez was born on April 30, 2006, in Canada. Not much is known about her family. Her name is pronounced as “So-Chee.” Her full name is Xochitl Gomez-Deines. She currently lives in Echo Park, Los Angeles, California.

Xochitl Gomez had begun acting at the tender age of 5. She joined musical theater so that she could be involved in a productive activity, as her mother would mostly be away at work.

Her debut production was The Little Mermaid, and she played one of Ariel’s sisters. She has been part of nearly 20 musical productions. One of her initial roles was that of a horse in the musical Beauty and the Beast. She had to make weird horse noises throughout the play.

She began her full-fledged acting career with the 2016 movie Interwoven. In 2017, she appeared as Frida in the short G.I. Jose, as Young Adriana in the series Evil Things, as Zoe in the short Light as a Feather, and as Becky in the short Jack.

The following year, she was seen as Lily in the series Matty Paz Is a Noob, as Delia in the short By River's Edge, as Teresa in the short The Wetback, as Violet in the short Cazadora, as a kid in the short Silence of Others, as Lainey in the short Mia, as Francis in the short Boob Sweat, and as Marcela in the short The Letter.

In 2019, she appeared in the series You're the Worst, the film Shadow Wolves (as Chucky), as Young Ana in the Netflix series Gente-fied, and as Emma in the movie Roped. She has also been seen in two episodes of the Disney Channel show Raven's Home.

However, the role that made her a household name was that of Dawn Schafer in the 2020 Netflix series The Baby-Sitters Club. The series is based on a children’s novel series of the same name by author Ann M. Martin, which was published between 1986 and 2000.

The Baby-Sitters Club was released on July 3, 2020. It revolves around the lives of five middle-school children who establish their babysitting business in Stoneybrook, Connecticut.

Xochitl Gomez once described her character in the series as a “laid back, vegan, hippy activist” who is “passionate and empathetic.” The series also stars Sophie Grace as Kristy Thomas.

She feels she has a lot in common with Dawn. Though Xochitl feels she is not as political or as bold as Dawn, she, too, is interested in issues related to social justice, just like Dawn. Both she and Dawn are healthy eaters and avoid sugar. They are also both from California.

She is managed by The Savage Agency, a talent agency based in Los Angeles, California.

Xochitl Gomez is an only child, but she has many cousins. At times, she misses having a sibling, but she likes all the attention she receives, especially during the holidays.

She has been part of improv classes since 8. She loves making funny sketches and being spontaneous about it.

She learned to skateboard while shooting for the first season of The Baby-Sitters Club in Vancouver, Canada.

She is quite health-conscious and exercises by watching random fitness videos online. She wishes to get a treadmill for her room someday.

Xochitl is addicted to watching series from the 1980s and the 1990s. She adores the shows Friends, The Wonder Years, Freaks and Geeks, Seinfeld, and Beverly Hills 90210.

She has acquired 81 original Baby-Sitters Club novels. She is spending her COVID-19 quarantine period staying at home and reading the novels.

Xochitl got her ears pierced after she finished filming the first season of The Baby-Sitters Club. She might be seen with earrings in the second season, if there is one.

She believes that the content on TV shows is important, as most children learn while watching TV shows these days. She likes the fact that The Baby-Sitters Club has a lot of positive themes, such as friendship, loyalty, and trust.

She likes doing her bit to help people and bring about positive changes in society, such as supporting local vendors and purchasing from black-owned businesses.

She has had many Latina fans reaching out to her and saying they are proud of her and the show. Latina girls identify with her character, Dawn, who is also Latina.

Xochitl once visited her friend Paulina Chávez on the sets of the Netflix series The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia.

She was once also spotted on a VIP tour of the LA Dodgers. In her spare time, Xochitl likes making friendship bracelets for her friends.

Xochitl was aware of the book series The Baby-Sitters Club, but she did not read it before landing a role in the Netflix series. As soon as she got the part, her mother ordered some books of the series online for her to read.
