Ysabel Jordan hit the headlines of several tabloids and earned the interest of millions even before her birth. This is because her father, Michael Jordan, is a celebrated former professional basketball player. Jordan is regarded as one of the greatest basketball players in history and has achieved several individual feats in his basketball career. He was made a member of the ‘FIBA Hall of Fame’ in 2015. He is considered the first billionaire player in ‘NBA’ history and is currently one of the richest Black Americans. Thus, when he and his second wife, Yvette Prieto, announced on November 30, 2013, that they were expecting their first child, it was quite obvious that the child would attract attention from both the media and his fans across the world. However, at that time, the public and the media did not know that the couple was expecting twins. When Jordan and Prieto welcomed Ysabel and her identical twin, Victoria, to the world, it was a surprise for all. Ysabel’s name was chosen by her parents. The name means “gift from God” in Spanish and “devoted to God” in Latin. The word “Ysabel” is also similar to a word in the Italian language that means “consecrated to God.” Born into fame, Ysabel and Victoria had their names profiled by the popular American weekly magazine People in its Celebrity Babies section in February 2014.
Ysabel Jordan and her identical twin, Victoria Jordan, were born on February 9, 2014. Ysabel is of American descent from her father’s side and Cuban descent from her mother’s side. Her parents, Jordan and Prieto, met while dancing at a club in 2007 and soon started dating. Jordan proposed to Prieto on the Christmas of 2011 and later, the two married at the ‘Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church’ on April 27, 2013. Ysabel’s mother is a Cuban model who has modeled for American fashion designer Alexander Wang. Prieto has also featured as herself in the documentary ‘Cuba: An Island Apart.’ As her parents prefer not to divulge much about the whereabouts of the twins and try to keep them out of the limelight, not much is known about Ysabel and her twin sister.
Ysabel Jordan has two half-brothers, Jeffrey and Marcus, and a half-sister, Jasmine, through her father’s first marriage to Juanita Vanoy. Jeffrey is a former basketball player. He has played for the ‘University of Illinois’s ‘Illinois Fighting Illini’ and the ‘University of Central Florida (UCF) Knights.’ However, he later took the road to business and founded the Jordan Avakian Group in 2020. Ysabel’s brother Marcus was also a college basketball player and played for the ‘UCF Knights men's basketball team. He currently owns the Trophy Room, an elevated retail boutique. In May 2019, Ysabel became an aunt when her half-sister, Jasmine, and the latter’s husband, American professional basketball player Rakeem Christmas, had a son. Jasmine, in an interview, mentioned that her father was overjoyed about being a grandpa. However, he insisted that his grandson call him “Michael” or “Mike,” something Jasmine humorously refused.
