Yung was born Matthew Hauri, on March 19, 1996, in Rochester, Minnesota. He grew up in Wisconsin.
He attended the ‘University of Wisconsin,’ Madison. He graduated with a degree in marketing in December, 2017. He had started creating music on ‘SoundCloud’ much earlier.
Yung lost his dad when he was 16 years old. He is not known to have any brothers or sisters.
He loved rapping in his college days and often performed at various parties and social gatherings. When he saw the rise of rappers such as Lil Yachty and Ugly Good, Yung decided to take his rapping career seriously.

Career
He was working as a startup accelerator when he decided to take his music seriously. He quit his job to focus entirely on his rapping career.
He began by self-recording his songs. He did not want to brand himself as a self-promoter. However, with time, he decided to do everything for his music.
Yung started his musical journey in 2016, when he started uploading his music on ‘SoundCloud.’ He was surprised to see that people loved his compositions.
He earned a huge number of admirers in a short span of time. He has gained more than 500 thousand subscribers on his ‘YouTube’ channel to date.
The first song that he uploaded on his channel was ‘Karen,’ and it was appreciated by people. This turned him confident, and he began to release more music for his audience.
Within a year, he became an internet music sensation. He released his first EP, ‘Mr. Clean,’ on September 8, 2016.
The song became a major hit and became viral on social media. He continued making a lot of music that year.
He released his debut mixtape, ‘Thanksgiving’s Eve,’ on December 23, 2016. It was a self-released mixtape.
He recorded and self-released his next EP, ‘Yung Gravity,’ in April 2017. This was followed by another EP, ‘Baby Gravy,’ which also featured Yung’s close friend bbno$.

This EP was released on October 11, 2017. During this time, he also released the music video of ‘Mr. Clean.’ He revealed his face for the first time in this video. The video became viral and earned more than a million “views” on the internet.
He became extremely popular after the release of his music video. By the end of 2017, he was set to embark on his first tour of the US.
In 2018, he released his single ‘1 Thot 2 Thot Red Thot Blue Thot.’ The unique sounds and the retro beats of the song were loved by his fans.
His latest EP, ‘Snow Cougar,’ was released on May 4, 2018, under ‘Republic Records.’ This was his first EP that was not a self-release.
He is already a star now and is going on sold-out tours in the US. He was also supported by rapper Ugly God in one of his tours.
With hit singles such as ‘Boomin,’ ‘Splash Mountain,’ and ‘Mr. Clean,’ this young talent is sure to become a star in the future. He is currently planning to tour cities such as Atlanta, San Francisco, Washington, and Chicago.

Stars bbno$, Englewood , and Jason Rich are his friends. Some of the biggest influences in his life have been Marvin Gaye, ‘The Blackbyrds,’ Stevie Wonder, and Otis Redding.
