Career
Zabdiel De Jesus comes from a family of music enthusiasts. He learned different musical instruments during his younger days and entered the Spanish talent hunt competition ‘La Banda’ in its very first season. The show was created by Simon Cowell and the popular Puerto Rican singer Ricky Martin. Jesus and four other artists, Erick Brian Colón, Christopher Vélez, Joel Pimentel, and Richard Camacho were put together to form a boy band in the show. The band was named CNCO and witnessed remarkable response from the audiences as well as the judges. They went on to win the show as well as a five-year contract from the Sony Music Latin.
Jesus and the band received great support from Ricky Martin who became their representative after the show ended. After the completion of the show, Jesus and the band performed their finale song ‘Devuélveme Mi Corazón’, which had become immensely popular, at the Times Square in New York on 2016 New Year’s Eve. Jesus played a very important part in releasing the band’s first album ‘First Appointment’ (also known as ‘First Date’) in August 2016. The album contained 14 tracks in total, including the popular ones like ‘Slow Reggaeton (Dance)’. The album received an overwhelming response and was certified Gold by RIAA (United States) as well as ASINCOL (Colombia). The album also received a Platinum certification from the AMPROFON (Mexico) and sold over 60 thousand copies in that country. It won the Latin American Music Award for the Album of the Year in 2017. It bagged the Premio Lo Nuestro 2017 trophy for the Pop / Rock Album of the Year as well.
In 2018, they released their second studio album, which was a self-titled album. It also had fourteen singles, including ‘Slow Reggaeton,’ which was viewed over 1.5 billion times on YouTube within a year of its release. The album broke into the US Billboard 200 chart and reached number 33. It also featured in other top charts like PROMUSICAE (Spanish Chart) and AMPROFON (Mexican Chart). Like the first album, the second album also won multiple awards. It was awarded the 2018 Latin American Music Award and the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards for the Latin Pop Album of the Year.
