He served various sultans of Zanzibar and briefly ruled the Sultanate of Utetera in Kasongo. Tippu Tip conducted numerous trading expeditions into Central Africa, establishing lucrative trading posts in the Congo Basin region. He gained notoriety as one of Africa's most prominent slave traders, supplying enslaved Africans to various parts of the world. Additionally, he traded ivory sourced from local suppliers in Kasongo at coastal ports.
