Kenya Julia Miambi Sarah Jones Biography

Kenya once mentioned that she never thought of giving modelling a shot and said that it was her mother who actually got her into it. When she was about 14 or 15 years of age, her mother took her to a modelling agency. She also accompanied her mother to a Bruce Weber shoot where she caught attention of the ace photographer. Weber took some shots of the shy young girl and as they say, the rest is history. In a couple of months time Kenya landed up modelling for Weber for a Vogue Spain editorial in Montauk, marking her first official shoot. Since then she has been modelling on and off and following her college graduation, she has started doing it full-time. Her initial modelling pursuits also include shoot with Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld for Harper’s Bazaar. Apart from landing editorials of Vogue Spain and Harper’s Bazaar, she has also worked for Teen Vogue.

She has posed for a couple of Calvin Klein campaigns along with her real-life boyfriend Will Peltz. Talking about shooting the intimate scenes of the buzzy new Calvin Klein Jeans campaign, she said that she never felt awkward at any point and things became more comfortable as she was shooting with her boyfriend. She posed for Diane von Furstenberg pre-fall campaign and recalling on this she said that she loved the experience of going to New Mexico to Taos Pueblo, the only living Native American community where they generally does not allow outsiders. She was amazed by the beauty of nature there and the whole ambiance of the community who maintain a traditional lifestyle and live in clay houses sans any running water or electricity. She holds it as a really special experience. In December 2017, she made her runway debut at the Chanel Pre-Fall show which was also graced by fellow-scions including Sistine Stallone, Sofia Richie, Lottie Moss, Lily Rose Depp, Georgia May Jagger and Selah Marley.

As a child Kenya, who grew up with eight dogs, five cats and two horses at home, developed passion for animal protection and well-being. Moving on she became an animal activist and wants to get associated with organizations for animal advocacy. The extensive work of Jane Goodall, an English primatologist and anthropologist, on conservation and animal welfare issues has inspired Kenya a lot and she wants to get involved in the institute founded by Goodall, the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), an international wildlife and environment conservation organization. Kenya became the face of Stella McCartney’s Pop fragrance with Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon, Amandla Stenberg and Grimes. She looks up to McCartney, a firm supporter of animal rights noted for applying vegetarian and animal-free alternatives in her work. Kenya has also remained a vegetarian since she was eight years old. She has worked with the US non-profit organization called ‘Last Chance for Animals’ (L.C.A) that advocates for animal rights. Her debut in acting saw her featuring for them in a video on endangered mountain gorillas.

Kenya Julia Miambi Sarah Jones was born on February 9, 1993 to Quincy Jones and Nastassja Aglaia Kinski who dated and lived together from 1991 to 1995. She has one half-brother and five half-sisters through her father’s other marriages and affair. They are Jolie Levine (née Jones) born through her father’s first marriage with Jeri Caldwell; Martina Jones and music producer, film producer and author Quincy Jones III through her father’s second marriage with former high fashion model, actress, singer-songwriter and photographer Ulla Agneta Jones; Kidada and Rashida Jones, both actresses, born through her father’s third marriage with actress Peggy Lipton; and Rachel Jones born through her father’s brief affair with Carol Reynolds.

According to Kenya, her parents kept things down to earth for her and she grew up away from the spotlight. She was quite passionate about horses in her childhood and would love to spend time at the barn with her horses and enjoyed riding and jumping competitively. She also had the desire of going to the Olympics for riding. She completed her graduation from Loyola Marymount University majoring in English in 2015. She likes to combine feminine and masculine pieces to style herself.

She met actor Will Peltz for the first time in Santa Monica while the latter was shooting a movie with her mother. During that time Kenya was in high school. Kenya and Will are in a steady relationship for over six years. The two have a French bulldog called Banksy. The ravishing model has gained decent popularity on Instagram where her account ‘kenyakinskij’ has already amassed an impressive count of followers.
