Career
Scrapp grew up with an interest in rap and hip-hop music. When he reached his teens, Scrapp, along with his younger brother, SAS, joined 'Da Razkalz Cru,' a rap group formed by their first cousin, rapper Roderick Anthony Burton II, better known as "Dolla." However, for this particular group, Roderick adopted the pseudonym "Bucklyte." Scrappy was then known as "Scrappy."
Interestingly, all three boys grew up together. In 2003, Scrapp made his debut TV appearance, as a 'Da Razkalz Cru' member, on the 'Nickelodeon' live-action sketch-comedy variety show 'All That.' Scrapp’s mother helped 'Da Razkalz Cru' bag a multimillion-dollar deal with 'DreamWorks.' Unfortunately, a few unfortunate incidents in Scrapp’s life did not let him shine in his music career back then.
Scrapp and the other two 'Da Razkalz Cru' members later became part of the rap group 'The Gang,' which they formed with a rapper named Streetz. ‘Elektra Records’ offered 'The Gang' a contract in 2003 and released their first single, 'So Fly.' Unfortunately, the track did not bring them the success they had hoped for. Soon, 'Elektra Records' terminated the contract with 'The Gang.' Afterward, Scrapp and the other members of the band pursued their solo careers. In 2004, he united with SAS and Bucklyte to perform the 'Hatch House Rap' for the animation flick 'The Easter Egg Adventure.'
After 'Da Razkalz Cru' disbanded, Scrapp formed a group named 'Natural Born Leaders' (NBL). In 2010, he was featured in the song 'The World Is Mine' from the album 'Southern Xposure 8.' The following year, Scrapp released two songs with ‘NBL’: 'Never Change' and 'Better Day.' He is also credited for the song 'Dirty Money.'
Scrapp rose to prominence in 2016, when he joined the cast of the fifth season of the 'VH1' reality show 'Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.' He appeared on the show along with his mother, his girlfriend, and his former girlfriend.
Alongside building his career in the field of music, Scrapp has also worked for SAS as his manager.
Dolla s Death
Scrapp’s music career was heavily influenced by the untimely death of his cousin and band partner Dolla. On May 18, 2009, Scrapp, Dolla, and a common friend named DJ Shabbazz were enjoying some leisure time at a mall in Los Angeles, when at approximately 3:10 pm, a 23-year-old man named Aubrey Louis Berry shot Dolla to death.
Scrapp later launched a restaurant named 'Buck’s Barbeque' in memory of Dolla, whose nickname was Buck. He also founded the 'Dolla Foundation,' which provides funds for children’s education.
Controversies
Scrappy has been locked up twice for two different criminal charges.
On March 4, 2012, a Cleburne County, Alabama deputy found Lydon Baines Smith, Scrapp’s stepfather, unconscious in the trunk of a car. He had been severely beaten by the DeLeon brothers in the Bridgemill subdivision of Canton. Scrapp, along with his mother, and SAS, were arrested for kidnapping and assaulting Lydon. However, not much is known about their release. Exactly when and why the charges on the DeLeon brothers were dropped also remains a mystery.
In 2014, Scrapp was arrested for drug trafficking. He was caught carrying marijuana, and the quantity of the substance exceeded the permissible limit according to the Georgia state law. In Scrapp’s final hearing in March 2016, his imprisonment duration was reduced to 5 years, with 15 years of probation and a $100,000 fine. Scrapp is supposed to be released in 2019, to be able to shoot for the next season of 'Love & Hip hop Atlanta.' In an episode of the show, Scrapp’s mother was shown meeting his bail bondman, who revealed that Scrapp could be out of jail by July 2019. The bail would be granted to him on the grounds of his good behavior in prison.
Personal Life
Scrapp was in a relationship with his 'Love & Hip Hop' co-star Tiarra “Tia” Becca and has a son named Aking. He also has a son named Akil. However, there is no information available regarding Akil’s mother. Scrapp is now in a relationship with Tommie Lee, his other co-star from the show.
